Tape Stop effect is the slowing down or pitching down a portion of a track, and if you want to spice up the effect, you can incorporate upwind automation to kick it into another element seamlessly.

TapeStop – Free Max for Live Audio Effect Sonic Bloom TapeStop does exactly what the name promises. It's a Max for Live tape stop effect. You can set up and down time separately.

Tape stop is slowing down and upwind (Not necessary if you only care about Tape stopping) is when the pitch slowly goes up in a certain time frame, it’s like an inverse of Tape Stop.

This effect can be practically used on any samples or instruments, and the way they are implemented differs from one plugin to another.

In this guide, I’ll be recommending the best Tapestop plugin in the music production scene, I will also describe how each of them works, let’s dive in…

1.) Tape Stop – Vengeance Sound (Paid)

The first Tapestop machine on our list is the Vengeance Tapestop plugin which is not only designed to support numerous pitch effects but also builds in sequencer, volume, and filter envelopes or the new “tape slip” feature you can create crazy effects, way beyond the classic Tapestop pitch-down.

Ever wondered why it is called the Tapestop effect? Download coupon printer for mac. This is because the magnetic tape was the coolest way to store recorded audio back in the days. So, when you start and stop the tape while playing back, you’ll hear an interesting effect, like a slowly pitched down of a sound when stopped and a slowly pitched up of a sound when started.

With the Tape Stop Snapin, you can create great spindown/speedup sounds quickly with the push of a button. Again, kiloHearts would always be one of the best plugin manufacturers with simple and intuitive interface design.

Does Studio One 3 have a 'Tape Stop' vst or DJ effect like a lot of other DAWS? If not, I'm looking for a quick Tape Stop effect. A GOOD one, not just any old thing. Many thanks in advance.

I use Izotope's Vinyl VST. It's free but it works really well. You can't control the speed of the stop though. But it is very realistic. It never used to work in Studio One because it was 32bit but it was updated in the last year or so to 64 bit and it works fine.
You can automate it but you have to manually create an automation track and point it to the tape stop control on the Vinyl VST. It doesn't show up when you right click on it like most.
Edit: I just tried this and it worked really well. You can also set tempo markers in Studio One in conjuction with the tape stop effect and adjust the timing of the stop that way.
You have to make sure all of your audio tracks/clips have their File Tempo set to match the Song Tempo. Do this by right clicking on an audio clip. If you have multiples just select all and right click and you can change them all at the same time. Then at the top of where the track headers are in track view you will see an icon that looks like the face of a clock. Click that to open up the Tempo Track and you can cut it like a clip and drag it up and down to change the tempo of the project.
This works really well in Studio One by the way. No audio artifacts that I've been able to detect.
I just tried cutting the Tempo Track where I had the Vinyl VST tape stop effect applied in a Song and it worked like a charm. I was able to control how fast the tape stop effect was for that portion of the song.
Hope this helps.
